General Info

Description

Advent® Drops manufacturer is Cipla.

Advent® Drops comprise Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid as raw materials.

Amoxicillin is an Aminopenicillin antibiotic of broad-spectrum activity, which fights infection by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor, used to enhance Amoxicillin’s efficacy.

Indications:

- upper respiratory tract infections (including ENT) (e.g., recurrent tonsillitis, sinusitis, otitis media);

- lower respiratory tract infections (e.g., acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, lobar and bronchopneumonia);

- genito-urinary tract infections (e.g., cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis);

- skin and soft tissue infections (e.g., boils, abscesses, cellulitis, wound infections, animal bites);

- bone and joint infections (e.g. osteomyelitis);

- dental infections (e.g., dentoalveolar abscess, severe dental abscess with spreading cellulitis);

- other infections (e.g., intra-abdominal sepsis, septic abortion, puerperal sepsis).

Advent® Drops are also indicated for prophylaxis of infections which may be associated with major surgical procedures such as gastrointestinal, pelvic, head and neck, cardiac, renal, joint replacement and biliary tract.

Advent® Drops will not be effective for viral infections like common cold or flu, or for yeast infection.

MOA (mechanism of action):

Amoxicillin destroys bacterial cell wall by preventing the synthesis of a substance called peptidoglycan, vital for bacteria's survival. Clavulanic Acid in its turn deactivates a beta-lactamase enzyme produced by some bacteria to hinder the action of Amoxicillin.

Amoxicillin is effective against gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus spp. (except strains producing penicillinase), Streptococcus spp; aerobic gram-negative bacteria: Neisseria Gonorrhoeae, Neisseria Meningitidis, Escherichia Coli, Shigella spp., Salmonella spp., Klebsiella spp.
